July 1
Tuesday, July 1st, 2008Ally had a restless night last night. I think I finally started dozing myself around 2:00 and finally went to sleep around 4:30a.m. Ally tossed and turned all night until after her 3a.m. meds. She woke up in a really good mood though. Brad made it back to the hospital by 8:15 this morning. They called for Allyson to get her picc line in right on time - 10:00.
Unfortunately, we had to wait in the procedure room for about one hour. They were waiting on a pediatric anesthesiologist to sedate Allyson. We didn’t mind because we wanted someone used to working on little ones. Ally did well once again. Brad and I asked and asked the nurse and docs to PLEASE remove the old IV (it was taped down with at least an entire roll of tape - we knew she’s be beside herself if we took it off when she was awake) while she was still asleep. The doc said they would…they’d probably start taking it off as she was waking up. (HA! Brad and I just laughed…we knew they’d need to do it while she was asleep.) We were right. When the doc came out after the procedure, he said the nurse was beginning to take off the tape and Allyson “woke up”. They had to give her just a bit more meds to make her go back to sleep so they could get it off. We had to laugh…Only Ally would wake up from anesthesia to tell those involved to “stop that!”.
All went well…Dr. Bob stopped by when the procedure was over to tell us we could go home!! YEAH! Ally was excited to get out of the hospital and go home. She was even more excited to go pick up Benjamin! (It is so cute how they have bonded.) When we got to Tita’s to pick up Benjamin (we were late…we thank Tita for keeping him for us until we got there), she came out to the car to see Allyson. Ally acted shy (she’s in a shy stage right now), but was happy to hear Tita is going to make soup for her tomorrow! Ally LOVES “Tita Soup”. Tita is such a wonderful lady. As we have said before, we are lucky to have her!
Ally is home. The “pig tails” from her picc line hang out of her arm. The line coming out of her arm is taped down, but the pig tails hang loose. We are paranoid someone (namely the Monkey Man) is going to give them a tug. We have to watch that very closely. Can’t blame the boy for being curious, you know…
