Day 70, March 25

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Both Brad and I went to work today. Allyson stayed home with Nana and Gramps while Benjamin went to Tita’s to play with his little friends. Apparently she had a great day. Bella and Ollie came over to play; Allyson loves to play with Bella. From what I gather from Nana and Gramps, they played and played all afternoon.

Jeck and Shawn came over for dinner. Benjamin and Ollie sat next to each other at the table. For whatever reason, Benjamin would cry every time Ollie would fuss or make any noise that sounded like fussing for that matter. I’m not sure why, but Benjamin has started this “thing” where he’ll just all of the sudden cry for no reason - crocodile tears and everything. We can’t figure out why he does that. Most of the time, it seems like there is no real reason. Sometimes he cries because he’s not getting his way…He’s still a cutie though.

Day 69, March 24

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Allyson slept late this morning.  I just let her sleep because she’s been sick the last several days.  It took her a while to perk up.  She wasn’t interested in eating anything, but she did drink an entire glass of milk.  She spent most of the morning hanging out and playing a little bit.  Later in the afternoon, Nana and Gramps went to Jessica’s to watch her kids for a few hours.  Allyson went with them to get out of the house a bit. - She finally at some meatballs tonight for dinner.  Hopefully this is a sign that she’s getting her appetite back.

I called Dr. Rob this morning to let him know she was fever free and to see when her procedure and treatment would be scheduled.  We were hoping maybe she would get in tomorrow or Wednesday, but no such luck.  We have to wait until Friday morning.  The IV nurse comes out Thursday evening to begin hydration.  He said he doesn’t need to see her until Friday unless her cough gets worse or her fever returns.  Let’s hope neither happens!

Benjamin had a good day today.  When he got home from Tita’s, he ate a really good dinner…lots of dinner!  After we all ate dinner, we played the Wii.  Benjamin said his first two word “sentence”.  He said, “Play Wii!”  Yes, I kid you not…that was his first sentence.  We all heard it, and he said it over and over.  I guess that tells you we’ve been playing the Wii alot at our house…

Day 68, March 23

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Happy Easter, happy day!  Allyson woke up without a fever, and she was fever free all day!  Lets hope she stays that way tomorrow.

We had a great day today.  The kids hunted Easter eggs in the house after breakfast.  Allyson was so cute; her eyes would light up and she’d run over and pick up the eggs she found and put them in her ladybug basket.  Benjamin wasn’t really into hunting eggs…he’s too little.  Once she found all the eggs, they both dug through their Easter baskets from the Easter bunny.  Most of the day, they just played their hearts out.

Jessica, Brad’s sister, and her family came over around 1:00 this afternoon.  We had a wonderful late lunch/early dinner.   We hid eggs upstairs in a few of the rooms so the kids could hunt them.  Bella was sooo excited to hunt the eggs.  Allyson loved her second hunt as well.  Both Ollie and Benjamin each found an egg and then were basically finished.

It was a nice day spent with our family.  Allyson did very well, but got so tired early in the evening.  She was in bed by 7:00.

Tomorrow I’ll call Dr. Rob and see what he wants to do about rescheduling her procedure and chemo treatment.  My guess is that they’ll want to do blood work first which means a visit to the office.  If she stays fever free, hopefully they can get her in Tuesday or Wednesday to do the procedure.  We don’t want to get too far behind in her treatment plan.  Hopefully we’ll be able to continue in a few days.

Day 67, March 22

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

Fever Girl…Allyson’s new nickname…Yes, she still has a fever.  We  woke up around 2:00 this morning because Allyson was restless.  When we took her temp, it was 101.  We gave her some Tylenol, and that seemed to help because she was able to get back to sleep.  I had to call Dr. Rob in the morning to give him an update.  He said he didn’t need to see her unless she got worse or wasn’t drinking enough fluids.  We just need to keep an eye on her the next few days and hope the antibiotic does the trick.  Monday’s procedure (the one that was supposed to happy this past Friday)is now postponed, again.  We are not sure what the new date will be just yet.  She has to get rid of this darn fever first.

Ms. Chris came by yesterday and brought Allyson and Benjamin big stuffed “Peeps”.  The kids LOVE them.  Allyson loves to toss hers back and forth with us and yell, “Peeps!  Peeps!”  Benjamin just giggles and sort of tosses his around.

Brad’s parents made it in okay this evening.  Ally was glad to see both of them.  Benjamin followed Gramps around all night.  He’s taken a liking to his Gramps. The neighbors came over and we had an excellent meal and some good wine.

Benjamin went right down when it was time for bed.  Allyson did as well.  Lets hope and pray and keep all fingers and toes crossed that this fever of Allyson’s goes away tonight.

Day 66, March 21

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Last night was another restless night for Allyson.  She sleeps until 2-3 in the morning and then she gets restless for an hour or so.  She finally gets back to sleep…me, well, that is another story.  I can’t sleep when she’s restless.  I worry too much about her breathing.

We were hoping Ally wouldn’t have a fever today, but no such luck.  She didn’t have one again until later this afternoon.  I believe it went back up to 101.  We’re supposed to all Dr. Rob tomorrow to give him an update.  I have a feeling we’re going to either end up back in the office, or we’ll have to postpone the procedure again.  I hope this fever breaks tomorrow!  I don’t want to postpone treatment and get the treatment plan too out of whack.  Pray for no fever tomorrow!

Benjamin did not take an afternoon nap at Tita’s, again.  He gets crabby when he doesn’t take a nap.  She told me today that he cries when he doesn’t get his way and cries when he’s told, “No, no, no.”  Yes, we see this at home too.  Not exactly sure how to break him of the crying when he’s mad bit.  We try to ignore it as much as we can.  We’ll see…

Brad’s parents come in tomorrow, thankfully.  It will be nice to see them and nice for the kids to get to spend some time with them again.  This time Allyson can actually play.  The last time they were here, she was just diagnosed and feeling very yucky. - Safe travels to them.
