Day 47, March 2

It was a beautiful day today! I believe the temperature got up to 78 degrees! Allyson has been wanting to go outside for a few days now. She wants to climb on her swing set and swing on her swing. She asks all the time. She was still hooked up to her IV backpack, so we couldn’t swing or climb. We took Allyson and Benjamin out for a walk instead. We didn’t go far because of the backpack and all the IV tubing. Allyson actually did walk (holding my hand and Brad’s)!!! YIPPIE! She and Benjamin were thrilled to be outside.

The IV nurse (Julie this time) came to the house around noon to change Allyson’s IV bag and get a blood sample to send in for tests. If the chemo levels were low enough, she was going to be able to come back in the evening to unhook everything. Well, her levels were low enough - YEAH!! A little after six in the evening, she came back and the IV tubes as well as the backpack were taken away. She was also able to take both needles out of Allyson’s port, so she’s a free girl right now - no IV’s, no tubes, no backpack! YEAH!!! Allyson can be more mobile, and Brad and I don’t have to get up before the sun comes up to change medications.

Brad’s sister and her family came over later this afternoon. Allyson got to play with Bella, so she was excited about that. Benjamin and Ollie played together also. They are only about six weeks apart in age, so it was cute to watch them.

Later in the evening Allyson walked, yes walked, over to her baby stroller and took her baby for a stroll around our family room. It was great!! She had her little purse on her arm and off she went. We sat and played with the baby for a while. I taught Ally how to put the diaper on the baby, and she was so excited to know how to do that. Of course, we had to do it about ten times! It was funny, everything had to be laid out “just so” for her to change the baby’s diaper. — I cannot tell you how awesome it was to see her play with her toys again.

Here comes the snow, again…I just saw a forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday. They are predicting tons of rain tonight and into tomorrow afternoon. Then, the rain turns to sleet and then eventually snow. By Tuesday afternoon, we are supposed to have 6-10 inches of the white stuff.
