A quick update

Monday, October 29th, 2007

Its about time for an update. We know that it has been a whole week but this is the first chance that we have had to give an update. First here are links to the new photos and movies.

We had a very busy week. It was my first week back at work, and that went very well. We are still working out how to get two kids ready in the morning and also how to get them ready for bed at night. Allyson has been doing great with Benjamin. She shares toys with him and is always concerned when he is upset. She is being a great big sister. Benjamin had his first doctors appointment this week. He is 24 lbs and about 30 inches long, in other words he is a big boy. Dr. Mueller was very happy with his progress and we only had to get one shot this time (next month is another story). Benjamin is also starting to stand by himself, so it will probably not be long before he is walking. He is already doing the crab walk around the furniture. Lisa is doing well, Benjamin keeps her very busy during the day since he likes to get into everything. All in all we love being a family of four.

Check back in a few days for another update.

I finally had a few minutes to update all of the pictures so click here and select October to see the 24 new pictures.

We had another great day today. Allyson got up at 7:30 so we all rolled out of bed for breakfast. After breakfast it was play time and we played hard until it was time for a nap. Benjamin fell asleep on me in the ’snuggle chair’ and we took a good 2 hour nap. Mommy and Allyson kept on playing.

Miss Angela and Alya stopped by for a visit today and to bring us a very nice dinner (a big thank you for that). We meet the Kims (Angela and Bum) at our first Dillon adoption work shop and as fate would have it Alya and Benjamin (who are about 2 weeks apart in age) were at Eastern at the same time, so Alya and Benjamin go way back ;) Benjamin did great, he sat on the floor and played with Ayla

Here is a quick update from yesterday that I forgot to post. Also we have a new movie - ClickHere

We made some good progress last night. I took the first shift and Lisa and I put Benjamin in the Ergo and he slept on me for 4 hours. Just like clock work Benjamin woke up at 3am on the dot. Lisa gave him a bottle which he downed and then he wanted to fuss but just for an hour and not the as bad as the night before. Lisa then took him upstairs and he went to slept in our bed and slept until 7am :)

We got up this morning and feed both the kids and then we headed out since it is such a nice day. We went and had coffee and Benjamin did great in his stroller and Allyson watched at backyargigans. After that we headed to the pumpkin patch. I had Benjamin on my back in the Ergo and Allyson got to ride in the wagon. We got 3 pumpkins and head home. I sent Lisa to take a nap (which she did) and the three of us played and had lunch. Lisa just came a got Benjamin since he was ready for a nap (it is 1pm). So now Allyson and I are getting some good daddy and Allyson time.

It’s 5am and we are going strong

We have been up since about 3am. Benjamin and I played until about 4:30 and then he got fussy. At first I thought cool he is going to go to sleep, nope it was time to eat and eat and eat. He killed an entire jar of pears, then we had some stars and I thought we are done. Nope we fussed some more at me and then Lisa came down stairs (she was trying to get some sleep since Allyson will be up at 7am ready for breakfast and then go to school) and is now feeding Benjamin a bowl of rice cereal which he is downing. Our boy has his days and nights all backwards right now. The good thing is that we are figuring out what Benjamin wants and does not want by his talking, laughing and crying.

Benjamin is also a crawler, he can cruse the entire living room whit out a problem. He is also pulling himself up on everything and trying to take a few steps. I do not think it will take long for him to learn how to walk.

Well back to feeding him and then I am sure we will be back to playing until Allyson wakes up. At least once we get Allyson off to school the three of us can come home and sleep until the afternoon. Then we will go and get Allyson and have some family fun.

Were Home!

First here are3 quick photos.

Now for an update since everyone is sleeping except me.

The flight from Seoul to LA was tough. Benjamin was very upset and cried for 7 of the 9 hours. However the flight crew was amazing. The captain of the 747 held Benjamin for some time and sang to him. The captain also took Benjamin into the cockpit, so our little guy got an up close tour of a 747! After that several of the flight attendants took turns carrying Benjamin on their backs (babies from Korea love to ride on peoples backs). This was a big help to us and to Benjamin. With about 2 hours left in the flight our little guy finally feel asleep and slept on Lisa for the last 2 hours. We de-planed and Benjamin was nothing but smiles as he got to ride in the stroller that Eastern allowed us to use (another big help in the trip home, Benjamin loves to ride in the stroller). All of the flight crew got to see Benjamin happy, smiling, and babbling while we wait to clear immigration.

Immigration and customs was a breeze. We gave the office our paper work, claimed our luggage and had to wait maybe 5 minutes for immigration. Customs was just as easy, they asked if we had any fruits or meats, which we did not and sent us on our way.

We got to our gate for the flight to Saint Louis and found out we were delayed for an hour. We find a nice little customer service area and we all crash for about a half hour. The flight to Saint Louis ended up being a breeze (I think all of the prayers really helped) since Benjamin slept on Brad for the whole 3 hours.

We had a great home coming! All of our family and friends that could make it were there and Benjamin was awake and smiling!

The first night was very difficult and Benjamin did not sleep much, Benjamin was very upset but this is all to be expected. Today went much better, we feed Benjamin some rice cereal which he ate the entire bowl and then took a good nap.

Well it is almost 1am on Wednesday and I hear someone starting to fuss so it is about time from a bottle. Check back in a day or two for some more updates each day gets better and better!
